ENDURE international conference: diversifying crop protection
Location: La Grande Motte, France
Date:
13 - 15 October 2008
Organisation:
ENDURE, Euorpean Network of Excellence
EN
Advances in crop protection have greatly contributed to high yields and consistency in production, but new concerns about human health and the environment and increased consumer awareness on pesticide use call for the development of alternative farming systems that are less reliant on pesticide use.
The conference's scientific programme will include plenary and specific sessions devoted to all aspects of the durable exploitation of crop protection strategies for sustainable agriculture.
Basic understanding of crop-pest systems:
* new approaches to reduce pesticide inputs;
* pesticide resistance;
* plant genetic resistance;
* biocontrol agents;
* semiochemicals (push-pull strategies);
* invasive and emerging pests; and
* weed biology and management.
Designing innovative crop protection strategies: * mapping of pest damage;
* modelling of pest incidence;
* pest prevention strategies;
* diagnostic tools;
* innovative technologies (robotics, nanotechnologies, precision agriculture);
* community ecology; and
* landscape ecology.
Decision Support Systems Multicriterion assessment of crop protection strategies:* surveillance of pest incidence;
* historical evolutions;
* ecotoxicology;
* environmental assessment;
* life-cycle assessment;
* economic driving forces (public policies, regulations, long-term economics); and
* societal assessment (public, farmers, governance...).
Registration:Researchers wishing to attend the Conference should fill the request for registration form available on the ENDURE website and return it exclusively by e-mail to the Conference secretariat (
